Is your roadmap a prototype or plan? | Janna Bastow

In episode 4 of Talking Roadmaps, Janna Bastow and Phil Hornby discusses the nuances between roadmaps as prototypes and plans. She shares insights on how roadmaps can be flexible tools for experimentation and alignment within product teams. Janna also touches on best practices for managing product backlogs and emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and customer feedback.

Janna is a product manager, taking the forms of a startup founder and CEO, consultant, and accidental event manager. She’s the inventor of the Now / Next / Later roadmap format.

She founded ProdPad, product management software that helps you manage your roadmap and your product backlog. She also occasionally works with other companies as a trainer and mentor to help them figure out how to build and learn, without breaking the bank.

In addition to that, Janna is the co-founder of ProductTank and Mind The Product, the international product management community and series of events for fellow product people. It was started in 2010 and has now has grown to consist of 50,000 members and sold out events in 100 cities around the world.
